2. Panel This type is applied to the horizontal lower surface of the wall to give it visual character. Depending on the situation, it can be simple or a more complex pattern
 3. Frieze This is a wide decorative moulding that is often applied under the cornice moulding, giving it a stronger presence.

Ornamentation Considerations

There is a wide variety of ornamentation patterns available on White River Moulding. These range from the traditionally intricate to a more sleek modern look. The homeowner’s task is to decide which style is appropriate for his or her home. The task of the designer or contractor is to make recommendations and ensure that all the moulding elements in the room are visually appealing. The best practice for the contractor is, after doing the take-off, order all the necessary linear feet of moulding that the job needs. This will ensure that it all comes off the same run and will match perfectly. Another consideration is that the nature of moulding will result in a lot of waste, due to the large number of angle cuts. It is not unrealistic to expect to need to order an extra 10 percent.Volterra Architectural Products is your premier supplier of White River Moulding and can handle any size order for your project. Panel Moulding: A Practical, Easy, and Attractive Means of Filling Space

Panel moulding is simple, clean and symmetrical, adding just enough style to add purpose to these empty spaces.

Panel moulding differs from other types of moulding in that it is applied directly onto the surface, as opposed to edges or sides. Panel moulding does just what its name implies, creating square or rectangular panels along a wall. The resulting effect is not meant to be a grandiose display of fine taste or ornate sophistication. What it does is accentuate a blank wall with simple, sweet character.

While these molds are primarily shaped as squares or rectangles, different styles that vary at the corners can be chosen if homeowners want something that veers from the standard model. Some curve in before extending back out to the straight lines that comprise the sides, while others jut in and out. Some have elaborate corners with various curves and bends intermingling with one another before smoothing out once the corners end.

Volterra Architectural Products is the most trusted company in the valley for all types of moulding. Their panel trims are created from the finest of materials for the finest displays of millwork in the modern age. Contractors can rest assured that any trims they purchase from Volterra are guaranteed to meet and exceed the expectations of every client.

Casing Moulding over Entryways

Casing moulding fills this job duty—the perfect frame for all entryways within the house. This trim fits around surfaces much like how they would fit around a painting or a photograph. Thick and wide, casing trims are the enclosures necessary to give windows, doors, and more an appropriate amount of character.

The problem with a house without case moulding is that it looks absent of any kind of symmetry or union among its various parts. It appears muddled and without personality. Casing does not have any kind of functional or structural purpose, but it doesn’t have to. By equipping entryways with casing, you are customizing the house in a way that all of the individual parts stand out on their own. Rather than tearing apart the house’s sense of connectedness, it in fact makes it stronger by distinguishing the individual units among each other.

Entries into kitchens and halls no longer appear as massive holes in walls, and doors don’t blend in to their surrounding areas. Windows do not look like glass covering blowouts—they are real structures with real purpose. Casings are available in multiple formats. Some are straight and linear, while others are of a more curved and bumped pattern. It can even create the illusion of arched tops in standard entryways.

Casings are easy to install and easy to maintain. Dealers carry multiple sorts for varying design effects, as well as to accommodate various surfaces. To learn more about the usefulness of casing moulding, call Volterra Architectural Products at 602.258.7373 today.

White River moulding is in a class of its own, raising the bar for elegant interior design and remodeling.

Different Moulding Options

Whether along floors, walls, ceilings, doors or windows, the universal effect of White River moulding is an unprecedented aura of sophistication and class. The designs within these trims are of a baroque nature. The cornice mouldings, for example, are lined with leafy patterns and circular arrangements, such as on the Large Acanthus Leaf and Tongue and the Egg & Dart with Dentil. White River also offers panel moulding that is equally elegant. The Small Beads trim is a pattern of circular fixtures, like beads, fit tightly next to one another. The Running Leaf also has ornate leafy creations leaning against one another in succession.

Scrolls, Spirals and Other Classically Inspired Architecture

The frieze mouldings include the elaborate Rinceau Scrolls, a swirling leaf that curls into itself like a spiral, and the Scrolled Palmette, which is several fan-shaped leaves next to one another. These frieze trim components are perfect for completing the effect of any classically-inspired architecture that is present within a home. They complete the look with designs that have been done in the same spirit as pillars and columns.

White River’s prestigious line of trims fits all basic moulding needs, such as crown, base, panel and more. Volterra Acquires Bakken Moulding & Millwork

Bakken Moulding Installation - Library

PHOENIX, September 14 – In a deal finalized September 1, Volterra Architectural Products acquired Bakken Moulding, Inc., allowing the Mesa, AZ company to preserve it’s name, products and reputation as a leading source for hardwood millwork in the Valley since 1984. Faced with unmanageable overhead expenses, increased material costs and a depressed construction market, Bakken was on track to close or sell this year, leaving five employees jobless and customers left to find other sources for their products when Volterra owner Tim Williams proposed the sale. “The acquisition of Bakken makes sense for our company,” said Williams. “Our primary customer base consists of home builders, designers, architects and commercial contractors. The addition of hardwood moulding and millwork products is a perfect fit for our company and we are excited to offer our customers an even more diverse product lineup.” Williams added that the existing plant is in an excellent position to take on the manufacturing of these real wood products which includes both stock and custom baseboards, crown mouldings, chair rails, corbels and casings. The millwork products will continue to carry the Bakken name. The financial arrangements of the acquisition are not being disclosed, however, Volterra has purchased the majority of the machines, vehicles and manufacturing equipment from Bakken, and the factory move to the Volterra plant was completed August 22nd. Additionally, Volterra has retained all Bakken employees who will continue in their current capacity. In business since 2002 and currently employing 17 people, Volterra is a manufacturer of architectural products including faux wood beams, corbels and planking; flexible moulding and beam straps, interior plasters and finish products; exterior stucco; and accessories such as non-functional shutters, tile vents and scuppers. Bakken had been a long-time customer of Volterra, purchasing flexible moulding products. The moulding and millwork operation is currently operational and customers are being serviced at Volterra Architectural Products, 1902 N. 22nd Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85009. To find out more about Volterra, please visit www.volterraproducts.com. For information about the acquisition or to arrange an interview with Tim Williams, please contact Beth Williams, 602-619-0721.]]>
